CTR Channel to Roster Software Upgrade
On a Standard M30 on when dialing it will select the Duty Roster set by the User (1,2 or 3). The current Duty Roster selected is shown on the top right of the LCD display (e.g. R1, R2, R3).
CTR Channel to Roster Software Upgrade
The Channel to Roster software works differently. When an alarm becomes active, instead of the M30 dialling out on one of the Duty Rosters, the M30 will automatically select a Roster linked to that alarm channel.
So for Example;
If Channel 1 is activated it will dial Roster 1.
If Channel 5 is activated it will dial Roster 5.
If Channel 10 is activated it will dial Roster 10 etc.
This software upgrade is great for when you need to communicate different alarms to different people for example the fire brigade for the fire alarm and the maintenance department for the Air Conditioning in the server room.
This new feature is available either as an option on a new M30 or as a simple software upgrade on a current machine.

GSM Alarm Dialler with Voice and SMS
The M30 GSM Alarm Dialler is an industrial / commercial unit designed for operating in harsh environments. The M30 comes with all the features you would expect from an industrial unit including; 4 to 56 independent inputs each with their own user recordable speech or SMS message and integrated 24+ hour battery backup to name a few – see the standard features page for a full list.
Speech & SMS
The M30 Dialler now supports both Speech and SMS alarm messages. This can be individually configured for each Dialout. E.g. Dialout 1 to send a speech message to a land line, Dialout 2 to send a speech message to a mobile and Dialout 3 to send an SMS to a mobile.
GSM & PSTN
Unlike all other GSM Alarm diallers the M30 also has a PSTN connection, meaning if you wish, you can setup your unit to use the GSM network as a backup connection. I.e. The M30 will monitor your PSTN land line; if it fails or is cut it will automatically switch to the GSM network.
Below is a small subsection of the features that are available on the M30;
- 4,8,16 & 56 Individual Alarm Inputs.
- Individual Speech Messages for each input.
- Individual SMS Messages for each input.
- PSTN & GSM Options.
- Internal Mains Failure Alarm Sensor.
- 24+ Hour Internal Battery Backup.
- Fully Menu and Keypad Driven.
- IP56 Industrial Rated Enclosure.
If you would like more information or help on the features of the M30 please visit the standard or optional features pages or contact us directly.
The M30 is designed and built by us in the UK so if there are any special features you require for your application, we will normally be happy to create them for you.

SMS Dialler
The Packs Infotel M30 SMS Dialler is a purpose built and designed machine for the types of harsh environments typically found in industrial and commercial applications.
THe M30 comes with 4,8,16 or 56 individual inputs as well as all the standard features you would expect from an industrial SMS Dialler including 24 hour battery backup.
The M30 is used all over the world in a diverse collection of applications such as Pharmaceutical, Power Generation, Security, Cold Storage, Oil / Gas Refineries, Building Management, Food production, Industrial Process Monitoring as well as the protection of humans and livestock.
SMS Text Messages
Each individual input of the M30 from 4 to 56 inputs has its own SMS message that is user configurable to about 25 ASCII characters plus each M30 has a station identification, this gives you an easy way to identify from which machine the SMS arrived.
When the M30 goes into alarm and sends the SMS messages to the predefined contact list the end user will receive an individual text message for each input/channel that is in alarm. So for instance if inputs/channels 1, 2, 3 and 4 were active the recipient would get four SMS messages.
SMS and or Real Speech Messages over PSTN or GSM networks.
The M30 is unique as it allows you the flexibility of not just sending SMS messages but voice messages as well.
With the M30 you can also send user recordable real speech voice messages over a connected PSTN land line connection or with an optional module send them over the GSM networks as well.
The SMS Dialler version of the M30 comes with the same standard features such as
- 4, 8, 16 or 56 independent alarm inputs.
- 3 separate Rosters (dial out lists).
- SMS and or Real Speech Messages over PSTN or GSM networks.
- Integrated battery backup.
- Integrated Mains Failure.
- Integrated Alarm output.
- Fully Menu and keypad driven.
- Industry standard IP56 enclosure.
The above list is not definitive, also as the M30 is designed and built by ourselves in the UK if there is a feature or function you need for your particular applications then please let us know as we can normally create it for you.

SMS Text Message Feature
As of the winter of 2012/13 we have added another new feature to our M30 Alarm Dialler, the ability to send SMS messages in addition to the standard voice messages.
Each input/channel on the M30 can be configured with a user defined text message of around 25 ASCII characters – so instead of a recipient getting a useless “channel 1” alarm they can receive a useful “Mains Failure Boiler one” message.
This feature is in addition to the standard voice message option so you can still setup and send user recordable voice messages over the PSTN networks or over the GSM networks with the GSM converter.
Setup
Setting up your M30 is very simple; while entering your alarm contacts phone numbers you can select whether the recipient should get a SMS or a voice message.
The station identification is a maximum of 31 ASCII Characters.
All inputs can have an individual identifying text message of up to 25 ASCII characters.
Operation
When the M30 detects an active alarm/s it will send an individual SMS message for each active input to the predefined recipients. E.g. if 4 inputs are active then the on call engineer would get 4 SMS’s.
Message Example
Each SMS message is created from the M30’s Station ID (in <> brackets) and the inputs individual message and then followed by an *End of Message*.
E.g. If channel 1 is in alarm the M30 will send a text message as follows:
<Packs Infotel Office> Channel 1 Alarm Condition *End of Message*
or
<Sunningdale Landfill> Mains Failure Boiler one *End of Message*

What advantages does the SMS Autodialler Module Give me?
The module uses the GSM networks rather than the land line networks to send SMS messages, so it acts as an automatic line backup incase the land line has failed, is in use or has been cut.
As the module allows you to select whether you would like the recipient to receive a voice or SMS message it creates a much more flexible system, with uses outside of the standard communication of alarms.
For Example;
- Keep a permanent record of all onsite alarms.
- Integrate an onsite pager system.
- Setup channels to “Alert” rather than “Alarm”.
- Visual alarm messages for the deaf or hard of hearing.
The SMS Upgrade Module is “quad band” meaning it will work in Europe and also most of North & South America Plus Africa and Australasia.

Wireless Alarm Autodialler
Sometimes it can be more convenient to have a Wireless Alarm Autodialler instead of a wired one connected to the PSTN networks. Our Wireless Autodialler uses the GSM mobile networks in order to send and receive alarm messages.
Wireless systems do have a number of advantages over a standard wired system;
- Where it is not possible to get a PSTN landline installed.
- Where the cost is prohibitive to get a landline installed.
- Can be used in a temporary installation.
- Can be used where the item being monitored is regularly moved.
- Where there is high risk that a land line might fail either because of nature or due to malicious damage.
We offer two different types of wireless system;
GSM Dialler Converter Module
This module allows you to have the best of both worlds, you can either just use the GSM wireless networks to send real speech voice alarm messages or switch to them if the land line fails or is cut.
SMS Module
This module allows you send SMS text messages alerting your on call personal there is a problem on site.
When opting for a wireless system instead of a wired system you do need to be aware they are not typically as reliable as a landline PSTN system. The GSM networks do not have the same operating capacity as PSTN phone networks. That is why at peak times e.g. New Year you cannot get a call out. Governments also have the right to shut down the GSM networks in times of national emergency or when they are performing sensitive operations.
The GSM networks are also more susceptible to being disrupted by local electrical interference.

What is a GSM Alarm Dialler?
GSM Alarm Diallers are fairly new to the market (i.e. the last 8 years or so) but in that time have shown themselves to be very useful and convenient either as an alternative to a standard Alarm Dialler or as a backup device.
In situations where it is not practically or financially viable to get a land line installed or where there is a high chance someone might try to block the line a GSM Dialler can be ideal.
A GSM Alarm Dialler is essentially the same as Landline Version but accepts a sim card and uses the GSM networks to make and receive alarm calls rather than PSTN land lines.
Not all GSM Diallers are equal most are very cheap and are not designed to cope with commercial or industrial use, nor will they have the features a business might require i.e. multiple dial out lists for different staff rotas. For example the Commercial M30 Autodialler by Packs Infotel can use both Landlines and the GSM network, i.e. The M30 can use the GSM networks all the time or the M30 can use the Land Line networks and only switch to the GSM / Mobile networks if the land line fails.
But you do need to be bare in mind that GSM / Mobile networks are typically less reliable than a fixed land line, as they are more susceptible to weather and local conditions and have a smaller network capacity. E.g. during peak times the mobile networks often become clogged and fall over. Governments also have the power to turn off or disrupt the GSM and or Mobile networks in an emergency.
Because of this if you application is critical we would recommend where ever possible to use a land line as the primary medium and use the GSM networks as a backup.

The M30 Auto Dialler can now send SMS Alarm Messages instead of or as well as Real Speech Messages.
The upgrade is available to be supplied with a new Auto Dialler or as a retro upgrade to a currently installed machine.
This is ideal for people who want a visible alarm message instead of an audible message or for logging alarms.
But you need to bare in mind that SMS messages are not a guaranteed service i.e. the message might arrive instantly, in 5 minutes or 5 hours. Also if your phone is out of reception when the SMS message is sent very often there is an extended delay for delivery.

GSM Frequency Bands for Alarm Dialers
Europe & the USA operate on different Frequencies or Bands.
GSM 900 / GSM 1800 MHz are used in most parts of the world: Europe, Asia, Australia, Middle East, Africa.
GSM 850 / GSM 1900 MHz are used in the United States, Canada, Mexico and most countries of S. America.
A USA “Dual Band” Alarm Dialer or phone will not work in Europe, Asia, or Australia.
A Europe “Dual Band” Alarm Dialer or phone will nor work in the USA, Canada or Mexico.
A “Tri-Band” Alarm Dialler has three GSM bands 900/1800/1900 MHz or 850/1800/1900 MHz
A “Quad Band” Alarm Dialler supports the four main GSM frequencies so will work in both the USA and Europe.
